Rural Roots: Communities in Action is based out of Alberta, Canada by Change for Children. Rural Roots is a unique way to not only reach out to Alberta youth but to engage them in reaching out to their communities. This program allows for linkages to form, experiences to be shared, and horizons to be broadened while giving youth the opportunity to direct their own initiatives and conceptualize their own visions for social change. The program empowers leadership skills and provides concrete tools for organizing events, promoting education and awareness, public speaking, working with the media, and affecting social change within the local and global community.
